Wayfarer in Eternal Reality

Wandering the desolate wastes, a man stands alone. and yet his heart knows, that a place has been prepared for him. And so, he moves on...

Catching That Lizard

Lavie meowed herself hoarse. Literally.

When I got home this evening, she greeted me at the door, as she often does. This time, however, her cry of attention sounded rather throaty and raw. I almost thought she was sick, or down with some cat-variation of that terrible flu bug that has been making its rounds around the office.

Janice explained to me later, that nope, Lavie wasn't sick. She just overextended her feline vocal chords earlier on.

Apparently she was alone at home when she saw a lizard making its merry way across the living room wall. In her excitement she clambered up as close to it as she could. Naturally, the lizard in all its lizardy wisdom, scuttled onto the celing - a place my dearest feline could not reach. So. She starts meowing.

And meowing.

And meowing some more.

She can be rather loud and yeow-ish when she can't get what she wants.

Well it went on for quite a long while, before my sister got fed up and swatted the lizard off the ceiling with a broom. It fell down, and scooted off somewhere Lavie couldn't get to. After a few more piteous meows, all hoarse by now, she shut up. I guess I got home a lil while after that.

...

I wonder if we aren't like my lil cat sometimes. We yell and hanker after something, something we so dearly dearly desire, and we pour out all our life into it, howling and screaming with our choices and actions and thoughts and time, hoping, reaching for it with all that we can.

Sometimes we get what we want... and we are happy for a while. But it never lasts, just as quickly as Lavie's play-thing becomes a dead-thing. It never lasts.

Other times, we don't get what we want. And we are left, tired, disappointed, with no voice and heart left to share with the ones that you actually love.
