Spring Cleaning

The week just flew by whilst yours truly was cooped up in his room shifting dirt from one location to another, sorting memories and throwing away the lousier ones, and bringing in new things to replace the old ones I just got rid of.

Spring cleaning always takes a bit out of me. Sometimes, quite literally. Out of my stuff at least. I've learned over the years the art of closing my eyes and dropping this or that thing into the dustbin and hope I never regret it. Sometimes I do, but its seldom enough that loosing my grip on these things material doesn't make me sit and wonder of disastrous possible yet usually false consequences.

Its at times like these I often wonder if we should do our own spring cleaning of our souls, our minds, our memories. Stuff like damaged relationships, personal unforgiveness, broken dreams... list goes on. Too often, I suspect, many, myself included, would rather sweep it under the proverbial carpet, lock it in the cupboard, et cetera, hoping that these things, if left out of sight will one day not matter.

That doesn't happen often.

Perhaps, even as we hit Chinese New Year, with all its fun and gorging, we should take time to spend with our Creator, and take some times to let Him spring clean our insides too. It may well be the very best way to start the year.
